Light Treatments Could Get Rid of your Pimples

Pimples may be cured by a simple light treatment, first developed to press out wrinkles, as shown by a study carried out at a London hospital. The Hammersmith Hospital in West London tested Low Level Laser Therapy commonly used in private beauty salons on thirty patients who were having mild to moderate pimples.

In a time period of 12 weeks their acne had halved. Meanwhile, those on a dummy treatment presented no improvement at all. Findings prove that those with the most extreme symptoms displayed the most astonishing improvement, mostly w/in the first month of treatment. Under experts conclusions, this is significantly faster than most conventional antibiotic treatments, which can take as eternal as eight months to take effect.

The study showed that a single five-minute session shoot up a dramatic result on acne for up to 12 months. The expert said that the treatment appears to be showing the same kind of effect as antibiotics, but w/o the possible side effects. “What we need to do now is to see if it works as well on pimples around the other parts of the body, and work out the treatment which is the most clinically effective”, he stated.

Pimple Treatment's Future: Rambazole!

A study with Rambazole, a novel retinoic acid metabolism-blocking agent (RAMBA), determined that 94 % of subjects with moderate to severe acne cases treated with onemg of oral Rambazole once per day for 12 continuous weeks experienced decrease in total acne lesion count of more than 50 % and 35 % were considered "cleared or almost cleared".

This work tips to the production of this medication on future, since Barrier Therapeutics, Inc. reported positive Phase 2a data points for its oral formulation of Rambazole (TM) in the treatment of moderate to severe pimple and positive biological activity data points for its topical formulation of this product.

Geert Cauwenbergh, Ph.D., Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Barrier Therapeutics, Inc. explained that “these positive Phase 2a results indicate that oral Rambazole is effective in moderate to extreme inflammatory acne, and that depending on the result of future, full scale clinical trials, this drug may one day fill the needs for safe and effective ways on how to get rid of pimples. These results further builds on our previously announced promising clinical data for oral Rambazole for psoriasis.

Pimple Story: A Lone Teenager

I don’t know if it was puberty or hormonal upheaval but friends, my teenage years were miserable because of one thing called Pimples.

Well, based on what people say about positive thinking and all, I guess I allowed it to have control over me. However, at that age, how the heck was I to know about all that? Furthermore, w/ bumps, red bumps and more bumps with white substance all over my face, it was very hard you know. I doubt any girl that would have wanted to kiss a guy with a big pimple nestled to his lip today or his nose in the future.

Needless to say those were hard years and had I known then what I know now about acne and pimples, it would have been a totally different story. Either way it goes, I still come across helpless and sad teens, so if it aids any: if you are a teen or know of a teen who is harassed with pimples, here are a few tips that should help you cure your acne in no time.

1. First and foremost, I care not what some sites and product endorsers say about how diet doesn’t affect acne; you need to establish a change in your eating habits.

You are what you eat. If you want to have clearer skin and the bonus of improved health, of course eating right will be important. That said: Fruits and vegetables friends. Shop more in the produce aisle and stay clear of snack stands at the cash register. I know it may sound dull for a teenager but trust me, it’s worth the sacrifice, and this forms the basis of an internal acne treatment right there from its root cause.

2.For external pimples-care, you could learn such easy points as facial massaging and workouts.

However, simply washing your face with nothing but clean hands and plain water may perhaps be the most effective way to clean the pores. Mixed w/ the facial massaging and casual steaming of the face, this will be very decent to clean the skin.

3. Change your pillowcases daily and make sure you have a towel exclusively for your face.

Besides checking against contaminations getting on the face, this is great for the heart and lungs and allows for a well and restful sleep (which co-incidentally helps with controlling acne.)

Boy, had I known of some of these in my time. Well, don’t let the story of my teenage years be yours, a sad one because of one thing - pimples.

Relationship of Pimples and the Liver

The liver is responsible for detoxicating the blood stream as it comes from the colon, lungs, and lymphatic system. Once detoxified, this blood moves into your whole body to provide your cells with oxygen and digested nutrients.

Because you eat, breathe, and produce so many toxins, the liver is having a hard time negating these toxins. If you are constipated, this puts extreme toxic load on your liver, w/c eventually leads to the excretion of these toxins to your face and skin. Extreme toxins coming out through your skin can lead to pimples and other skin troubles.

All cellular wastes, used up hormones, and excess hormones are routed to the liver through your lymphatic system. Once in the liver, the liver starts the detoxicating process. If the liver is stuffed with toxins, it will begin to store these toxins in its own cells, in the cells of your organs, joints, skin, or any other place where the body is weak.

Hormones, such as androgens that are not neutralized by the liver, can get back into the blood and move into the skin cells where they pile up and cause excess production of sebum that will flow into the hair follicle causing pimples.

Eating good fiber daily can keep your colon clean and free of constipation. Fiber can also trap unnecessary hormones and prevent them from being reabsorbed into your blood stream through colon walls. The best source of fiber are fruits and oats.

If you are a typical eater, then most likely you have been going on junk food. The quantity of deadly chemical substance and food additives that are in the solid food that you eat accumulates in your colon, liver, blood, and face as toxins that needs to be neutralized are not eliminated.

All junk processed food is detrimental to your wellness and to your skin. Once you stop wearing yourself your body to process toxic food products, you will hold a chance of cleaning your colon, liver, blood stream and the pimples on your face.

Setting Things Straight

Since I've defined and cleared up issues about the definitions about acne, pimple terms, I would just like to set some things straight to avoid confusion (again). Pimples, skin care are delicate matters for you and for me so I don't want to round you all up to something false... something untrue. I want to create an Acne Free World and that won't happen if we don't understand each other, right?

First of all, when I mention the term Acne or Pimple, it will be pertaining to the red bump on the skin with the white gooey thing inside.

Second, I've mentioned "zits" right? It just pertains to pimples. You could put it as a nickname for pimples, a slang perhaps. I won't be mentioning it for about some time. Maybe forget about it temporarily, just to avoid confusion.

Third, as this blog progresses on...I could be adding tips on blackheads, whiteheads and the such.

Difference between Pimple and Acne

As I was surfing the net, I noticed that many individuals still doesn't know the meaning of difference of acne and a pimple. Acne and Pimple are not so different things, if you've read my first post defining acne and pimples, you will probably have an idea. Oh well I'm gonna explain it thoroughly this time to avoid confusion.

Acne or Acne Vulgaris is a skin disease/condition normally discovered during the puberty stage. Let me repeat, it is the skin condition - it is the term that a dermatologist would likely call it.

Regarding pimples, it is just a type of Acne Vulgaris. Pimples are the red bumps on your face with a white core. That is what pimple is, you could call it acne though... because it is a type of acne. There are other types of acne by the way, blackheads (open comedo) and whitehead (closed comedo). Maybe we could call it as forms of acne rather than types

The bottomline is, they are all caused by clogged pores and follicles due to something blocking then (eg. dirt, dead cells, chemicals, etc.). Treatment of these conditions are basically the same, so need not worry. I hope I opened up your mind with this post.

2. Exercise regularly.

3. Dab the face dry carefully.

4. Use a sun-blocker by wearing a hat.

5. Avoid tight clothes, especially during summer. They are known to cause body pimples by trapping sweat.

6. Use make up that do not clog pores.

7. Thoroughly understand the nature and practical use of the soaps, lotions, gels, creams that you are using. Don’t get carried away by high flown adverts. Models get well-paid for their job, but let it be not at your cost.

8. Try to cure your acne condition naturally. Think well, what works for you and what does not.

The facial topography of each person is different, so of the skin. Give it the right regimen so that it can live a ’smooth life’ w/o bothering you. Never hesitate to see your dermatologist, if you have the slightest worry about your skin.

You will see that some of the precautions above are mentioned in my previous posts about pimple myths. Some of these preventive measures are not really scientifically based to prevent acne, but hey... it leads to healthy skin, on a logical point it MAY prevent pimples and acne. No harm in trying.

Myth No. 11: Only teens get pimples

It is true that 9/10 teenagers experience pimples, but it is also true that about 1 in about 4 grownups get it also. Pimple seems to be related with hormones which would explicate why teenagers have such a high relative incidence of pimples, but adults are also going through hormonal shifts at several times in their lives.

Myth No. 12: Pimples can be cured

Many people consider acne as a disease that can be cured for good or PERMANENTLY. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. Acne can be controlled and prevented through proper skin precaution, but it can not be cured.

Myth No. 13: Pimples are contagious (What was that?)

Of course Not! No one can "catch" pimples; it is non-communicable. If pimples would be contagious, it would be the worse than Influenza A(H1N1).

Myth No. 14: Taking birth control can control your pimples.

True. Many dermatologists prescribe birth control for women to get rid of severe pimple breakouts. Birth control helps stabilize your hormones which can limit the amount of sebum produced.

Myth No. 15: Long hair complicates pimples

The cause of acne is bacteria and if the person’s hair is long and is not cleansed properly then it will definitely complicate pimples. It is not the hair, it is the bacteria from the dirt residing on your hair.

Myth No. 16: Girls are more susceptible to having acne than boys

Acne is commonly present among boys due to the male hormone called androgen which is dominant. Some studies even prove that boys develop more acne than girls, this for the main reason that boys are usually outdoors.

Pimples are disturbing for growing individuals but it would become less disturbing if adults, kids and teenagers would know the facts and not the side lies. So do not believe everything you hear. If you have more myths, you should contact your dermatologist to see if they are either true or false.

More Beliefs on Your Usual Pimple Problem

What we think we know about acne and pimples are steadily being replaced by what scientists are learning. Meanwhile, many myths continue to spread and endure. Clearing up some of the misinterpretations about it is what this article is about.

Myth 1: Acne only affects appearance

Acne can also cause deep psychological distress. Severe pimple, blackhead and whitehead breakouts can lead to low self-image and feeling depressed. There is a strong link between severe acne and social detachment.

Myth 2: Pimples are caused by miserable hygiene

(I've discussed this earlier but decided to put it still here on this post, just to elaborate things)
While skin contagions are associated with pimple, lack of cleanliness is not the reason for pimple outbreaks. The compounding of oil and dead cells w/c create pimples is located below the skin's surface where it is impossible to clean it away. Moderate cleansing with soap and water at one time or twice daily will keep your skin as healthy as possible. Scrubbing too hard may just worsen your it.

Myth 3: Pimple is caused by specific foods

Chocolate has long had a reputation as a pimple producer. Studies have showed no scientific prove that this is true. The same holds true for potato fries and sugar. There are some foods that do seem to aggravate (not cause) the condition: milk and foods high in iodine, such as seafood.

Myth 4: Pimples has to run its course

There are many pimple treatments available both OTC or over the counter and better medicines from a dermatologist.

Myth 5: The more pimple medicine the better

Some people believe that if their pimple gets worse they should just use more medicine. That's a bad idea because medications can be dangerous when taken in great quantities. Excess use of pimple ointments may just irritate the skin further.

Myth 6: Sunbathing is good for acne

Exposure to the sun dries out excess oils, so it does improve pimple short-term. However, long-term the skin adjusts and the pimple is unfazed. Worse, there is scientific prove that sun exposure hurts the skin and increases the chance of skin cancer.

Myth 7: Makeup causes pimples

Some makeup products can clog the pores, w/c is bad for the health of your skin. Cosmetics that are labeled "noncomedogenic" or "nonacnegenic" are safe to use. Some brands are made with ingredients that actually treat pimple.

Myth 8: Acne is only a teenage condition

While most teens have pimples, so does many adults. Pimple generally clears up by the early 20s. But some people experience pimples for the first time as late as their 40s. And for the most unfortunate of all, some people endure acne flare-ups their entire lives.

Myth 9: Pimples are related to sex

We've probably all heard that either celibacy or too much sex causes pimples. There is no proof for this. There is a link 'tween sexual activity and hormone output, but the relationship 'tween sex and the production of sebum (the oily substance w/c compounds with dead skin cells to cause acne) is not really known. Stress and anger also affect hormone levels.

Myth 10: Popping pimples: is the best way to get rid of pimples?

The fact is popping pimples may worsen acne by distributing the bacteria that is causing it. Popping can also lead to eventual scarring, which in severe cases, can be eternal or permanent.

Common Myths on Pimple Treatment

Have you ever drank more H2O, or avoided or increased your exercise to prevent acne flare-ups? If you did answer yes to any of the above questions, you are not alone.

Pimple is one of the most common skin troubles affecting nearly 86 % of all people. While the variety of working pimple treatments continues to grow, so does the number of myths on how to moderate the condition.

“Although new acne treatments are developed each day, a remedy for pimple has not yet been discovered. As such, many patients choose to selftreat or try out with unconventional treatments,” stated by a doctor. “Yet many of these treatments are based on anecdotal observances and haven't been rigorously proven by Science. The survey points that these myths are still affecting how patients care for their acne.”

Myth: Bad Hygiene Worsens Pimples

The relationship between face washing and pimples has always been greatly misinterpreted, with most people believing that dirt and poor hygiene contributes to pimple or acne. In fact, a recent study conducted at Stanford University asked players about what they thought made their pimple problem worsen, and the majority, 92 %, mentioned poor hygienics. “If a patient believes that dirty skin causes pimple, they logically reason out that washing their face more often will improve their pimple,” said by a doctor. “But skin doctors caution patients against washing too much, as the resulting irritation can worsen their acne.”

To determine the technological validity of this myth, the effects of face washing acne were recently studied at Stanford University. A group of twenty-four males washed their faces twice a day for two weeks using a mild over-the-counter facial cleanser. Then the participants were randomly selected to wash their faces either once, twice or four times a day for another 6 weeks. The study found that washing the face either once, twice or four times daily did not significantly change the appearance or condition of acne, and determined that the positive effects of increased facial cleansing are minimal at best. dermatologists continue to recommend washing the face twice daily to conserve good overall skin health.

Myths: Exercise Can Clear Pimples or Worsen Pimples?

The relationship between pimples and exercise continues to show high levels of individual variability. Some believe that exercise and sweating can help clean out the pores, specially on the chest and back; while others note that their skin worsens when they exercise, especially those who use special equipment that rubs against their skin.

In another study conducted at Stanford University of patients with acne specifically pimples , it was determined that exercise-induced sweat does not have a significant positive or negative influence on pimple of the chest and back. Twenty-three male participants were assigned to three groups: no exercise, regular exercise
followed by immediate showering and regular exercise followed by delayed showering. The number of pimple lesions on the chest and back were counted over a two week period and no difference was noted between the three groups. “Based on the finding of this study, regular exercise can be encouraged for patients with pimple,” stated Dr. Boer Kimball. “But they should avoid tight-fitting clothing and equipment. If tight-fitting equipment is required, it should be cleaned on a regular basis.”

Other Pimple Myths

While misconceptions about facial hygienics and exercise are still the most commonly accepted pimple beliefs, the Stanford survey also found that respondents believed that poor diet and decreased sleep can negatively affect pimple. In addition, more than 80 % of players believed that raised stress, touching the face and popping pimples exacerbated the condition. Among male and female participants, the only differences noted were that more females believed that increased stress could worsen acne and that drinking more water would improve the quality of their skin. The study also found that some beliefs that were previously popular about pimples were no longer viewed as true, including the idea that tanning improves the appearance of pimples.

“What this survey and these studies have shown is that essential differences still exist between popular belief and scientific support, yet this doesn't change the way patients attempt to care for their acne,” stated by a doctor. “It is important for anyone who is affected by acne to seek the help of a dermatologist who can diagnose and provide treatment choices that are specific to the patient’s skin type to effectively address the condition or status.”

Modern Product for Pimple Treatment

While I was surfing the net, I found something that caught my attention, WTF! a gadget for removing pimples. I'm pretty amazed, so I thought I should share it with you.

And I just want to clear that I am not an affiliate, nor do I recommend their product for you yet. Again if you want to try it, buy the acne product at your own risks.

How to Get Rid of Pimples

Pimples are a threat to society. However, it’s not something that cannot be taken on. There are lots of acne skin care wares round. We can classify acne skin care wares into three distinct categories:
  • Preventive or common acne skin care products
  • Over-the-counter, specialized acne skin care products
  • On-prescription acne skin care products
The general acne skin care products or wares are the ones that are used as acne-prevention standard. These include cleansing agents, make-up removers and similar wares that help prevent acne. In the real sense, these acne skin care wares are just those that should anyway be part of your everyday routine. However, some of these are more oriented to act like an acne skin care product. These acne skin care wares act against the causes of acne e.g. restricting the production of sebum/oil and preventing clogging of skin pores. Basically, these acne skin care wares prevent the oil from getting trapped in pores and therefore shackle the outgrowth of bacteria that head to acne. The common acne skin care products also include exfoliation wares like skin peels. These work towards dispatching dead skin cells, hence reducing the possibility of pore-clogging and bacterias development.

Then there are specialized acne skin care products that are accessible over-the-counter i.e. without the need of a prescription. These include products like vanishing creams which extract the excess oil from the skin. Most of these acne skin care wares are set on benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, both of which are the enemies of bacterias (and hence acne). You should begin with a ware that has lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide (e.g. 5%) and see how your skin reacts to it. Alpha-hydroxy-acid set moisturizers are also popular as acne skin care products. You might have to try a few, before you zero-in on the acne skin care ware that is good for you. If nothing seems to work, you should meet a skin doctor.

On-prescription acne skin care products are the ones that are appointed by a skin doctor. This can include ointments that can be applied on the involved area or oral antibiotic drugs or just any local treatment. dermatologist could also suggest a minor surgical procedure to remove the contents of pustules. Even So, never try to squeeze or do this by yourself, it can lead to permanent damage of your skin. Your doctor could also prescribe a hormone-based treatment (since hormonal shifts are also known to cause acne). Such acne skin care wares are recognized to be very good in some cases.

So, with all those acne skin care products, taking on acne is not that difficult. Though, the effect isn't the same on all persons, because of several factors like body conditions, allergies and such.. pimple products may offer some consequences, use them or rather buy them at your own risk.

Pimple/Acne/Zit: DEFINED.

First and Foremost, what is Acne?

You may think this post is so silly right?, but just sit up, read through and be dumbfounded. There are a lot of FAQS about acne/pimple/zit that you do not know(I'm sure of it).

Its Definition:

Acne is a chronic disorder of the hair follicles and sebaceous glands. Some of the characteristics of acne include blackheads, pimples, cysts, infected abscesses, and rarely scarring. Acne usually takes place during adolescence in any men and women. To be more specific, acne starts during puberty and runs to get worse for people with oily skin. Acne gravely strikes teenage boys. Only low to average forms of acne occur in middle-aged adult females. Acne can be found most commonly on the face. The other places where it can occur include the neck, chest, back, shoulders, scalp, and upper arms, legs ,even in guy's penises and woman's vagina (how painful is that). Most classes of acne are the result of genetic endowment and hormonal troubles.

Cases of acne:

Acne comes out in a similar way for all but can take different forms and can respond in a special way corresponding to the body circumstances of the individual. A basic lesion called the comedo is the begining of acne. The comedo is an enlarged hair follicle clogged with oil and bacterias resting under the surface of your skin, that awaits for the right circumstances to rise into an inflamed wound. Whenever the skin produces more oil, the bacterias grows inside the swollen follicle. The surrounding skin becomes increasingly inflamed as your white blood cells fight against the trespassers. Two main types of acne include (a) non-inflammatory acne and (b) inflammatory acne.

(A) Non-inflammatory acne

  • Closed comedo:

If the plugged follicle stays under the surface of the skin, the wound is called a closed comedo. This usually appears on the skin as small, whitish bumps. This condition is otherwise called as whitehead.

  • Open comedo:

If the plug enlarges and drives through the surface of the skin, the wound is called an open comedo. The dark appearance of the plug is not due to dirt, but due to the buildup of melanin, the pigmentation element of the skin. This condition is otherwise called as blackhead.

(B) Inflammatory acne

  • Papule:

This looks on the skin as a small, firm pink bump. The papules are tender in nature and are frequently considered as an intermediary step between non-inflammatory and clearly inflammatory wounds.

  • Pustule:

These are small round lesions that are inflamed and hold visible pus, which appear red at the base with a yellow or whitish core. Pustules do not hold a large sum of bacteria. The inflammation is stimulated by chemical irritation from sebum components such as fatty free acids.

  • Cyst:

These are large pus-filled wounds that are usually present deep inside the skin. The cysts are very uncomfortable lesions, as they are inflamed. Cysts form as a result of the contents of a comedo spilling over the surrounding skin and due to the reaction of the local immune system in producing pus. The cysts often leave deep scars.

  • Acne conglobata:

This is a rare but serious form of inflammatory acne that develops primarily on the back, buttocks, and chest. In addition, to the presence of pustules and cysts, there may be severe bacterial infection.

Here are the Symptoms:

The frequent symptoms of acne include persistent, recurrent red spots or swellings on the skin known as zits. The zits become inflamed and get filled with pus. The pimples usually occur on the face, chest, shoulders, neck, or upper portion of the back. Some of the other symptoms include dark spots with open pores at the core, which are known as blackheads, bulged spots under the skin without openings, which are known as whiteheads, and red swellings or lumps filled with pus, which are known as pustules. The pustules can develop from blackheads or whiteheads. Inflamed fluid-filled lumps under the skin known as cysts are also a symptom of acne. These cysts can become as large as an inch crosswise.
